This past New York Fashion Week was my first behind the camera. I took these photos a week before my third NYFW as a model (this time, for J. Crew’s F/W 2017 Collection).
To be honest, it was a bit nerve-racking. I wasn’t sure what to expect from my first time taking street-style photos. Toby recommended the perfect remedy: brunch and drinks. With my stomach full and nearly all inhibitions gone, I photographed my subjects without a care in the world.
There was a lack of trend-focus, which meant that people wore whatever their imagination desired. Mink coats, leather jackets, pronounced eyewear, and exciting use of colour made the atmosphere exhilarating! What also contributed was the global diversity - countries were represented from around the globe: Ghana, New Zealand, Britain, Nigeria, South Africa, Iran. The list goes on.
It was easy to forget the wintery cold, and lose yourself within this street-style party!
